Every trade in India involves more than just your broker's commission. On top of brokerage, you pay STT (Securities Transaction Tax, a government levy), exchange transaction charges (NSE/BSE fees), SEBI turnover charges, stamp duty (state tax on the buy side), and GST (18% on brokerage + exchange charges + SEBI charges). For equity delivery, a small DP (Depository Participant) charge also applies on the sell side.
This calculator adds all of these together so you can see your real, landed cost — not just the advertised "₹20 per order" headline figure most brokers lead with.

It depends on the segment. Zerodha, Upstox, Angel One, Dhan, and m.Stock all offer free equity delivery, while Groww and most full-service brokers charge for it. For intraday and F&O, most discount brokers cap brokerage at ₹20 per order — the real gap between brokers usually comes from statutory charges and any subscription plan, not the headline rate. Use "Compare All Brokers" above to see the actual ranked cost for your exact trade.
Securities Transaction Tax (STT) is a tax the Indian government charges on every stock market trade, collected automatically by your broker. Following the Budget 2026 revision effective 1 April 2026, STT is 0.1% on both sides for delivery, 0.025% on the sell side for intraday, 0.05% on the sell side for futures, and 0.15% on the sell-side premium for options. This calculator applies the current rates automatically.
GST is charged at 18% — but not on your whole trade. It applies only to the brokerage, exchange transaction charges, SEBI charges, and DP charges added together. STT and stamp duty are government taxes and aren't subject to GST. This calculator shows the exact GST rupee amount as a separate line in the breakdown.
No. Free delivery brokerage is common among discount brokers (Zerodha, Upstox, Angel One, Dhan, m.Stock) but you still pay STT, exchange charges, SEBI charges, stamp duty, and a small DP charge on the sell side — so delivery is never truly zero-cost. Full-service and some discount brokers like Groww charge a percentage-based delivery brokerage on top of that.
Stamp duty is a state government tax charged only on the buy side of a trade. Rates vary by segment: 0.015% for delivery, 0.003% for intraday and options, and 0.002% for futures, calculated on the buy-side turnover. Unlike STT, stamp duty applies uniformly across states as per the Stamp Duty Amendment rules.
This calculator uses each broker's standard published rate card and current statutory rates, but your account may be on a negotiated, prepaid, or legacy plan, and minor per-order minimums or rounding aren't modelled. Treat the numbers here as a close estimate, and confirm the exact figure on your contract note before relying on it.
